The Route of the White Villages takes place between the provinces of Malaga and Cadiz in Andalusia. Its name came from the tradition of the inhabitants to whitewash the facades of their houses with lime and to decorate them with all kinds of plants and flowers, which gives to these villages a very particular beauty. This road has more than 20 villages in total.
Arcos de la Frontera marks the beginning of the itinerary. Then, it is Zahara de la Sierra at the foot of a ruined castle, Ronda, Setenil and Gaucín. This one offers a great panorama on the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco. A little further at the east side, you reach Garganta del Chorro. The waters of the Guadalhorce flow there. A 200-meter canyon that is only about ten meters wide. Vejer de la Frontera, Casares and Mijas are also famous.
